Opening the Book is proud to work in partnership with Brodart Co., suppliers of library furniture across North America since 1959 and book products from 20 years earlier.
The Brodart Quality Standard is recognized throughout the industry and we are delighted that Brodart is manufacturing our designs as they always deliver with high-quality materials and high-quality processes. The 200,000 square foot facility in McElhattan, PA, has state-of-the-art equipment and skilled staff which together enable Brodart to make superior products that withstand decades of use. Brodart’s library furniture is sold to schools, universities, and libraries worldwide.
Brodart’s dedication to environmental excellence is also impressive, always seeking to implement environmental management practices that increase efficiency and minimize pollution and waste. Brodart purchases over 70% of their wood from suppliers who harvest from Forest Stewardship Council Lands. Their composite wood contains 80% to 100% recycled content minimizing the use of virgin materials. Brodart uses several lean manufacturing processes that help eliminate wastes, including recycling 100% of their wood waste via secondary sources.
We have worked closely with the team at Brodart to prototype and test every Opening the Book product and ensure it is right for schools and libraries in the USA and Canada.
